Read this book here: 3 John.

The Love God Greatly Bible offers helpful commentary as you read 3 John:

“John’s third letter, though brief, contains a significant amount of instruction and encouragement for Gauis, the letter’s recipient. Diotrephes, a leader of a local church, had taken control and begun prohibiting others from attending his church, driving away members who helped one another. His actions showed his moral failure as he violated Christs’s command to love his fellow believers. John offered words of encouragement to Gaius.

Even in this short book, we can find instruction and encouragement to love God greatly. Gaius and the other members of the church were ministering for the sake of Christ. When Christ is our motivation, we can move forward and keep our work focused on Him. When selfish motives guide us, we can quickly end up like Diotrephes. As we minister to one another, let’s keep Christ at the center of our hearts, minds, and missions.”
