Wow! I finally read through the Bible in one year! This is the best book for people like me to read through the Lord's Word, without fail, in one year. Each reading starts with a touching devotional by Max Lucado that is based on one of the passages for the day. The devotional helps the reader warm up to what the Bible reading texts will be, and then start reading with gusto. When the reading is done, the reader eagerly anticipates what God will say next. Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy didn't seem difficult to grasp, and one can actually finish Job, Isaiah, and Ezekiel without thinking how tedious they are. The New Century (NCV) version is such that one reads the Bible as if reading and getting immersed in the story. I highly recommend this book to anyone who thinks that daily Bible reading is a chore and who cannot discipline him or herself to go through both old and new testaments within a year. Once you get through this book in a year, you will be motivated to read through scripture again with a different approach and then delve deeper into what the Lord wants you to read and study and apply.

Excellent daily devotional book. This is a gread daily devotional book by Max Lucado. A lot of us make the New Year's resolution each year to read our bible all the way through. This Daily Devotional book is set-up so that you can accomplish this resolution. Each Day has readings from both the New Testament and the Old Testament plus a general thought. I have found these general thoughts of the day to be speaking to me. I highly recomment this as an opportunity to get closer to God through the daily reading of your Bible.

Loved the excerpts from Max's books each day. I chose this rating because I considered it as anointed Truth just for me for that day. I looked forward to reading it every night as that cares of life slipped off my shoulders, and I was one with Almighty God, Savior, King and Ruler of the Universe! What joy to meet Him...just the two of us. And the words were so plain...I understood. I hope everyone reading this will get this Bible and attach yourself to it.
