Day 11

Jesus wept.

The shortest verse of the Bible, yet it holds so much complexity, meaning, and emotion in just two simple words.

This isn’t the only time we see Jesus in tears. In Luke’s Gospel, we find Jesus weeping as He enters Jerusalem before His trial and death, anticipating the destruction of the Temple. Both times He cries regarding the suffering and tragedy of this world – that death is still a cruel reality. Yet, He and His followers believe death will be vanquished once and for all once Christ comes again.. Christ has started the defeat over death, but that final victory will come.

Until that time, we can take solace and comfort knowing God stands and weeps with all of us in solidarity during those times of hardship and suffering. That’s what the incarnation shows us.

Relive John 11 by asking God to guide your imagination as you envision yourself in the story while Jesus weeps for his friend, Lazarus.

This lesson made me look deep into the how Jesus felt not just about Lazarus but about all those He loves. Hard to believe someone who is human but not human could have such feelings and not ashamed to show them.

I am so enjoying ‘living in’ the Bible scenes using your ‘Picture It’ method. I believe that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever which allows us to relive these biblical stories and gain such biblical understanding. Thank you!
Please send me Day 10 as I did not receive it.

Thinking of Jesus weeping for me touches my heart and my mind. As we go through this study of John, I realize how closely the mind and heart work. So often I think that GOD cannot be aware of me in my situation, then HE brings me forth out of despair. Thank you, GOD, for this teacher and these lessons.
