Day 12

Have you ever found yourself wary or uncomfortable of claiming you are a Christian?

For those of us who live in places that espouse religious freedom among its citizens, claiming to follow Christ does not carry a death sentence or some harsh consequence that could affect not only you but your family and friends as well – as it did in the ancient world.

Two thousand years ago, claiming faith in Jesus carried weightier significance. That’s why Jesus told the rulers around him who refused to publicly claim Him as Israel’s Savior, “For they loved praise from men more than praise from God” (12:43, NET).

As you read this text and reflect upon its meaning by journaling, quiet your mind and allow God to shed light within your heart.
